What is SKILLA Fashion about?

SKILLA Fashion is brand that believes in using your skills, gifts and/or talents in a positive way. SKILLA concentrates more on the constructive and encouraging characteristics of life. Our aim is to pay great attention to our clothing details, engage and create lifelong relationships with customers, dealers and supporters.

SKILLA’s Story

2008

As a child playing in the streets of Jamaica, I (Darold Pinnock) have always found myself drawing. After moving to the United States in 1996, my love for drawing led me through a journey in the design world. From building design, to graphic design and then web design. So in 2008, after doing quite a few freelance t-shirt & apparel designs, the idea of starting a clothing line came to me. This is when I knew that I wanted to create and come up with a line that promotes positivity.

Skilla’s style stems from my typography (word art), comics and architecture background. The name SKILLA was a high school

nickname that my friends gave me. They thought I was skilled in various areas, mainly dancing, and the name kind of stuck and so I decided to name the clothing line SKILLA because it was a pretty unique name and that uniqueness perfectly symbolizes the exclusiveness of the brand.

The inspirations of my life and faith is the overall drive and movement of the brand.

2009

The first year of SKILLA was awesome and the brand has really grown. After coming out with the Music for ALL tees the traffic of the brand really took off and all that lead to receiving some great and helpful press from top sites like Thrilist.com, HideYourArms.com, TheFashionBomb.com, Iamthetrend.com and much more.

The brand also had the honor of being featured in Crea’cions fashion show in May, which was a great experience. Also start receiving international orders and I got a chance to speak about the brand at Seton Hall University, which was awesome.

2010

I was really excited about SKILLA’s 2nd year, thinking of new ideas, new products etc. I kicked it off with a release party & featured two up and coming chefs at the party. I was one of the brands picked to be apart of Iamthetrend.com’s TEE MADNESS Contest which was a very humbling experience.

Thousands of people voted for the brand, people I didn’t even know knew that SKILLA exist. Overall though I spent most of my time finalizing the move from New York to Georgia, which was an adventure all by it’s self. So yes, the ATL is SKILLA’s new home and I have been roaming the streets spreading the brand.
